The Manchester United vs Liverpool Derby
Arguably the best two teams in the Premiership when history and trophies are concerned. But on current form Liverpool is now the big dog after so many years in the wilderness. They have won the UEFA Champions league, the FIFA word club cup and on course to winning their maiden League cup in the new era with a frightening trio in attack of Mane, Salah and Firmino. They are also well represented in defense with Allisson in goal, Van Dirk defending (the best defender in the world), Robertson and Arnold (arguably the best Fullbacks in the world now). The midfield might be their Hercules heel but even without flamboyant skill they are intense with loads of hard work with it. On the other hand, after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson it has been a downward spiral for Manchester United. With just the Carabao, FA cup and Europa cup to their names, having changed coach four times already and still look far off from winning the league or even making top 4 consistently. Ole Solkjaer though must be said have been able to rely on youth and the players have repaid the faith he has shown with in them. A very inconsistent performance this year as been brightened by displays against Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and even Liverpool. United being the only side to have taken a point off Liverpool in the current campaign in the league.
This Sunday, Manchester United would travel to Anfield and face their greatest rival in Liverpool and no one is giving United a chance. Their best player in Marcus Rashford is injured and races against time to be fit. While Liverpool are fit and ready to go again come Sunday with news that fabinho and Matip are back in training. Is there hope for the Reds of Manchester or would Anfield be too formidable for them and they would be swallowed up there. Remember Anfield was where Mourinho lost his job after his team was torn apart. Let us not forget this season Manchester United have been Giant Slayers this season and anytime they are considered the underdog they spring up a surprise.
My Verdict: I see either an Upset in Anfield or a draw. It sounds impossible but that is the game of football we have all come to love and watch.
