The CAF AWARDS.

The CAF AWARDS.

Sadio Mane…

The Confederation of African Football yesterday held the CAF AWARDS for year 2019 in review at the Albatros Citadel Sahl Hasheesh Resort in Hurghada, Egypt. It was a memorable event and not much surprise with the African men’s player of the year going to Sadio Mane after a superb year with Liverpool winning the champions league, being the highest goal scorer in 2019 for Liverpool, winning the world club cup also with club and doing well for Senegal at the nations cup. His other competitors in Riyad Mahrez and Mo Salah also had good seasons, winning the English premiership and African nations cup for the former and winning the champions league and world club cup for the later but Mane had an exceptional year and it was truly deserved.

Asisat Oshoala…

For the women’s player of the year it was Nigerian Asisat Oshoala that took it for the fourth consecutive time equaling Perpetual Nkwocha’s feat for the number of awards. She currently plays for the Barcelona ladies and doing exceptionally at the Women Uefa champions league.

The Only two awards I would probably take exception to is the team of the year that did not include Winifred Ndidi but had a Gueye. Like seriously an Ndidi was the best Defensive Midfielder in all of Europe and deserved a mention on that list while Senegalese’s Gueye should have been dropped. Also naming the African Women’s team as Cameroon but giving the best female team’s coach to the South African Coach is sort of sounds off to me.
