The News OCT 28th….

Quote for the day: Learn to be grateful and all times to everyone regardless of how familiar you are to the person or how minute the deed is. Only a grateful heart gets more…

Over to the news of the day….

Tinubu’s rumored Presidential candidature still smoking. It seems the former Lagos state Governor’s bid to become President of the Federal republic of Nigeria is still alive as posters have been sited and people have been coming out to support it. Though Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not come out to public declare his intention for 2023 (which will be too early in my own opinion) but that is how Nigerian politics play out. What is my personal opinion? He is not deserving to become Nigeria’s president. Lagos state under his tutelage is seriously backward compared to the enormous potential it has and the wealth it generates every day. If he cannot get Lagos to work, which chance does Nigeria have? Before anyone argues, they should take a trip towards Mile2- Badagry road and they should also check Alimosho Local Government. Let us not forget he endorsed Ambode and now Sonwo-olu. Enough said.

The Minister of finance came out to claim Nigeria is not in any danger of going into recession or bankrupt even with the heavy loans being collected. She claims that the only issue is Nigeria is not generating enough revenue. I have a problem with this statement considering that VAT has been increased, Petrol stations now collect an extra 50naira if you are using POS and claim they want the economy to go cashless. Electricity distribution is still as shitty as ever, there is proposed taxation on soft drinks, communication and the likes. It is worrying times and I hope she knows what she is saying and not just trying hard to calm our nerves.

Away to sports…

It was a weekend filled with goals as Chelsea defeated Burnley by four goals to two with Pulisic scoring a perfect Hattrick. Manchester United defeated Norwich 3-1 while still having the privilege of throwing away two penalties. Manchester city won by 3-0 while Liverpool Left it late against Hotspur to win 2-1 after Tottenham through Harry Kane scored in the first minute of the match. Leceister city where the biggest winners though with a 0-9 stumping of Southampton away on Friday.

In the FIFA U-17 World cup in Brazil, Nigeria left it late to come back and win the match 4-2 in her first game.

Formula One F1 – Mexican Grand Prix – Hermanos Rodriguez Circuit, Mexico City, Mexico – October 27, 2019 Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton celebrates winning the race on the podium whilst wearing a sombrero REUTERS/Carlos Jasso

Louis Hamilton made it another win in Mexico by winning a race he started in third position. He even went as far as risking his tyres to get the job done. It might not be the smoothest race, but he showed once again it is more than just the car. But the man behind the wheels. Just one more race for Hamilton in which he must not come below 8th and Bottas must also win the race to delay his victory for the season.

The Rugby World cup will be coming to an end soon with the finalist already determined. The Springbok of South Africa will be challenging the English boys for the ultimate bragging right. It must be said that The English defeated the Wallabies and the All blacks, two powerhouse of rugby and if I am being honest my money will be on the English team to win it. But we should not also look down on the Springbok, they dumped the host (Japan) and also beat the most informed team coming into the tournament in Wales. It would be one entertaining final and may the best men win.

The NBA is back and for my basketball lovers I will be looking at this sport also. For the records I am a Lebron James fan so wherever he goes I will be. From the Cavaliers to Miami Heat, back to the Cavs and now the Lakers. Oh yes that is how the story goes. The Lakers are doing amazingly well beating the Hornets 120-101 unfortunately the Golden State Warriors are not having it their way this new season with two loses.
