NEWS 14/10….

NEWS 14/10….

Let me first and foremost apologize for the long silence, last week was amazingly busy but I am back in fully and I am ready to unleash the news on you all. So, let us get cracking, shall we? Yes, we shall…

POLITICS……

BUHARI’S SUPPOSED WEDDING…

It probably is no longer news, about the much-anticipated wedding of Buhari to one of his ministers which was supposedly going to hold on Friday 11th of October 2019. What probably started as a joke on twitter attracted so much attention and led to curiosity if it was true. Some even swallowed it hook, line and sinker. Amazing!!! When there are serious issues to tackle in the economy, we are taking such serious. My view is simple even if the President wanted to get another wife. It is in accordance with his religion to, so I am not against it but I would be against it only because she is a serving Minister.

DEPLORABLE ROADS IN LAGOS…

The roads in Lagos have been deplorable. The traffic monstrous and the potholes have become gullies. It is so sad that the supposed best state in Nigeria is such a mess which begs the question, is our governor working? I was going to go on about how Lagos is on a standstill and if our governor is leading us from outside the state till I got news that on Sunday the Governor, Sanwo-Olu declared a state of Emergency on the roads in Lagos state to start today, Monday 14th October 2019. I will hold back my guns and see if this is actualized. But it is not just the roads that should be checked, the drainage should also be worked on because the massive flooding in Lagos is unbearable.

NLC PLANNED STRIKE…

The Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) has informed the public and the Federal Government that it would embark on a nationwide strike if the signed minimum wage is not effected by then and other levels also initiated. Let me start with the Government, why was Buhari so quick to sign on to something that he knew the government could not actualize just for the elections and now that he has won, he cannot fulfil his promise of N30,000 minimum wage. Was due diligence done before approving such an amount? Now everyone has to suffer for it with VAT increment and other taxations by the government. It just goes to show how ill advised the government was regarding this. This in turn also means inflation rates are going up. On the part of a toothless NLC is strike really the way? Have they proffered better solution to help with this amount? Or they are just willing to go to their “go-to-tactics” which is to STRIKE!!! Generally the cost of Government can it not be trimmed down instead of adding more burden to a people that are already taxed from left, right and center in an economy that is harsh with prices of food stuff already on the ascendency due to the closure of the border? The senators are still being paid outrageous amounts, those excessive allowances can either be reduced drastically or scrapped off. Furniture allowance (Like seriously), Hardship allowance (oh whoa? They also face hardship in their air-conditioned offices and cars and houses amazing!). They can also reduce the number of senators from each state and number of house of representatives to cut down on cost. These are just examples and there are more believe me. Like I always say. May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

SPORTS……

NIGERIA VS BRAZIL

Joe Aribo and Ederson…

The Super Eagles of Nigeria played a 1-1 draw with the Samba boys of Brazil. It was an amazing match that featured a very young, inexperienced Nigerian side against a star-studded Brazilian team that recently won the Copa America cup. Joe Aribo put Nigeria in the lead before Casemiro equalized from a rebound. With this display from Nigeria, there truly is hope for our team. But I want to use this opportunity to talk about the state of affairs of our sport in general. It is horrible, not just bad. If other sports can get half the recognition our male football is getting there would be a major turn around for our sports. I hope the “Not-so-new” Minister can correct this in the next few months and years. Once again congrats to the Super Eagles. Things are looking up for us.

COCO GAUFF WINS HER FIRST WTA…

Coco Gauff…

Sometimes all you need is a lucky break, a major chance and everything else will fall into place and I cannot stop writing about Coco Gauff from the moment she defeated Venus Williams in the Wimbledon during the Grand Slam you knew sometime special was on the horizon, she continued her fairytale run in the US open and when you thought maybe the year was over and she had done amazingly well. Coco goes from a lucky loser to winning a WTA and what makes it even sweeter is the fact that she did it against Jelena Ostapenko a Grand slam winner. Let us not forget that Coco Gauff is only 15. Oh yes, she is 15years of age and now ranked 71st in the world. She needs to take a bow; I cannot wait to see what she brings next year.

KIPCHUGE UNDER 2HRS…

Eliud Kipchuge…

Eliud Kipchuge broke the two hours Marathon time, by being the first man to go under two hours. Amazing to say the least. He has tried several times to break the record and even Nike at some point organized and event to try and go below 2hours in a marathon to no avail, but he eventually did it.

Who says Africans are not on time? Congrats to the Kenyan! Congrats to Africa!!!

MERCEDES WIN THE CONSTRUCTION TITLE IN F1…

Bottas and Hamilton for Mercedes…

The Mercedes won the construction title when they came in 1st and 3rd on race day in Formula One. Though the Ferrari started in pole due to mismanagement of the race and coalition by Leclerc. Bottas took advantage to win the Grand prix. Though Hamilton could have won it if not for some lackluster call, but Hamilton would not have been too upset considering there are four more races and all he needs majorly is to finish in podium and not have any major calamity. Congratulations Mercedes! We should look forward to next season. We might just be seeing the end of the dominance of Mercedes.

ENTERTAINMENT…

THE SKY IS PINK…

Aisha Chaudhary…

Based on the life of motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary, who died in 2015 when she was 18. Though it is not about the movie to me but the life of Aisha Chaudhary who having listened to her ask that though death is inevitable, what are we then living for? What are we doing to create happy memories? Some of us might have a short live, others a long one but the impact we have in life is what is most important. She had to have bone marrow transplant at 6months and developed a long disease that made it difficult for her to breathe. She lived and left her mark on planet earth in the short time she was here. What impact are you making regardless of all the troubles and situation you are going through? A must watch not just for the acting but for the message in it. Have a wonderful week.
