The Laureus Word Sports Award 2019.
The Laureus award has come and gone. This year’s award was held in Monaco and it was amazing to watch. The Sporting community all over the word gather together to celebrate sporting achievements in 2018. The Awards celebrates teams and individuals in eight (8) categories in 2018 without further ado let us go to the winners of this year.
Novak Djokavic won the Sportsman of the year, coming back from a terrible injury, Djokavic was in full flow in 2018 winning two majors in the process. Though he lost in the finals of the ATP Masters he still had a great year and very much deserved it.
In the female category; Simone Biles the female Gymnast won the Sportswoman player of the year. She became the all-time leading gold medalist with a record 14 gold medal. It has been an amazing year of Biles and she more than deserves to be up there.
The comeback of the Year award went to Tiger woods. After fighting countless injuries and all. He made a comeback in 2018 and has been doing greatly ever since. He duly deserved it and the recognition came at the right time.
The Breakthrough of the Year went to Naomi Osaka the current World number One who recently won the Australian open and last year beat the famous Serena Williams to the US Open. She definitely deserves the award and a watering match with Serena Williams in the nearest future is what everyone would want to see.
Linsey Vonn, won the Spirit of Sport award. Lifetime achievement award went to Arsene Wenger the former Manager of Arsenal football club; Exceptional achievement award went to Eliud Kipchoge the distant runner. The Sporting moment of the year went to Xia Boyu and Team of the year went to the World cup winning France team, just to mention a few.
It was a wonderful night in Monaco and the awards sure thrilled.
P.S MANCHESTER UNITED ELIMINATED CHELSEA AT THE BRIDGE IN THE FA CUP. LOL I just had to add that LMAO!. Have a wonderful day people.
