This is the News…
It has been a long and very restful weekend and yes though I would have preferred to rest a little more work has to go on. The long weekend though has been laced with enough news and I would love to share.
It is no longer news that the rains have caused havoc in Benue state. Many have been left homeless, many have lost properties and our hearts and prayers go out to every Nigerian up there in Benue, Thank God many have yielded to the call to help the victims. The likes of 2Face, Omojuwa, Jidenna and well-meaning Nigerians to mention a few have gone all out to contribute and ask for contribution to help those left homeless or needing help. We will continue to pray for the victims and call out to people to help. May God be with them all.
It is with great joy we celebrate the arrival of baby Williams, yes I have been waiting for this piece of good news for a while after Beyonce gave birth to the twins and now the little miss is finally here. Also just to input since we are talking about celebrities and their babies, we got the news Mark Zukerberg welcomed August his second daughter few days back which was another good news and also Djokovic did the treble also welcoming his baby too. It is a thing of joy when babies are brought to the world (P.S I love babies) we should make it a point of duty to make the world a better place for the beautiful innocent bundle of joy. Preach and show love not hate. To end this bit of news we should be expecting her in the Australian open in January 2018 to defend her title, a strong woman if I do say so myself.
The US Open is currently underway and though there is no Serena Williams, there is a Williams in Venus representing the family and the oldest player in the field. After winning her match she did not mention anything about her niece but hopefully she can win the US open after losing in two Grand slam finals this year, and give the little baby a befitting welcome gift *wink*. Sharapova also got a wild card to come back after being suspended for using banned substance. It was a mix reaction for her and she did good while she was at the tournament but having stayed away for so long was bound to catch up with her and it started to show and in the grand stage there was not going to be mercy shown, she was beaten. In the men’s circle with no Djokovic or Murray the two veterans Rafeal Nadal the number one and Roger Federer are the known faces, and though they have been struggling but they have been using their experience to get by. If they continue this way we could see a repeat of the Australian Open final and you know which side I would be backing oh yes it would be the Swiss no question asked, no explanation given lol.
It is coming to the business end of the Formula one and our trip round the world goes to Italy this time around, the race between the Ferrari and the Mercedes hitting up and narrowed down to Vettel and Hamilton. Though the Italian city favoured the Ferrari due to their huge fan base but the rains where Hamiltons forte and once they came during qualifiers you know one man who would excel against the storm barring any car issues which did not surface. So the qualifers ended with the Mercedes doing a one and two, while Vettel started in 6th, not so good for the German and Ferrari in general. The race started on Sunday and once Hamilton was out the blocks he never looked back for one second. It ended a Mercedes one and two while Vettel came up third due to penalties to the Redbull car due to Gear or engine change. I would give you all the infos you need as the 2017 tournament begins to round-up.
World Cup Qualifiers…
I would start with Africa, Nigeria seem to be in red-hot form when they put the African champions Cameroon to the sword in Uyo Nigeria by beating them 4-0, it was a whitewash with Victor Moses, John Ighalo, Mikel Obi and Iheanacho all on the score sheet. It was amazing and mesmerizing game of football and the Cameroonians did not know what hit them. It moved Nigeria to 9pts and one more win in Yaounde Cameroon would have booked a ticket to Russia from the group of which included Zambia and Algeria but it was not to be has the Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by the indomitable lions of Cameroon. There are still two games left against Zambia at home and Algeria away. In other news Ghana have not won a single game after three matches and their chances of making Russia 2018 looking slim. Cape Verde stunned to South Africans while Zambia also stunned Algeria in Zambia to mention a few. In Europe Belgium sealed their place in Russia 2018, while France produced the shock of the qualifiers after beating Holland 4-0 could not score against Luxemburg with their star-studded side at home in France. The visitor celebrated like they had won the world cup but who could blame them. In North America it seems only Mexico have booked their place in Russia while the likes of USA have to find a way of getting there. In South America, Brazil have booked their place but Argentina and Chile are in a place of less comfort, only time will tell.
Finally the Nigerian Professional Football League..
It is down to the last match of the last season and the title could go either to Plateau united or MFM football club, it has been an amazing season to be honest and the Olukoyas boys should be giving the kudos for pushing up until the last day. They both have qualified for the Caf Champions league but the Nigerian title is up for grabs with Plateau United having the advantage. A win for them makes them champions but anything asides a win and a win for MFM fc brings the title down to Lagos. Watch out for this thrilling end to the league this weekend, I know I cannot wait…
