We just celebrated another Democracy in Nigeria, and it is just ideal I talk about what I feel about my great country a little….

Nigeria we hail thee,
Our own dear native land,
Though tribe and tongue may differ,
In brotherhood we stand,
Nigerians are all proud to serve,
Our sovereign motherland.
Our flag shall be a symbol
that truth and justice reign,
In peace or battle honour’d,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.
O God of all creation,
Grant this our one request,
Help us to build a nation
where no man is oppressed,
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.

Nigeria my country, I am proud to be a Nigerian. People let me state and I am one of the few that believe there is hope for our great nation, yes many things don’t look great, infact it is worse, to say the truth but I believe so much that together we can make this nation work. It is time we step away from tribes and see ourselves as Nigerians, it is time we move away from what our country can do for us to what we can do for our country. It is time that we stand up for a positive change, that change that would stand us out.

Let me state here that I am not ignorant of the cultural, tribal and religious clashes currently going on, it is uncalled for, harsh and terrible but the youths of this country through dialogue and education should rise up from the hate and know we are our brother’s keepers. It is time to stop proclaiming this with just words and start acting this out. We should know my brother from the North or South or West is just like me, blood runs within our vein, we have a heart and we are all Nigerians, let us know that our women are also very important and should be respected. It is time to forgive ourselves and not repay the present generations with the sins of those in the past. It is time to see Nigeria as OUR Nigeria. It is time to see ourselves first as Nigerians, not Igbos, Yorubas, Hausas, Fulanis, Tivs, Igala etc. WE ARE NIGERIANS FIRST AND FORMOST.

Yes we can! yes we should!! yes we must!!! Stop the hate, spread the love, stop the tribal bias, let us be objective, stop the gender bias, instead choose competence, stop the violence, spread peace, stop the ignorance, let us advocate for educating all Nigerians, stop being used by those that don’t wish the country or you well, let us instead attract productive minds that would push this nation forward.

NIGERIA road sign

I am Tobi, I believe in Nigeria, I love Nigeria, and I love everyone in my diverse, beautiful and prosperous nation…… Do you?
